Grey, the nu metal band from Antananarivo, Madagascar, have an official video out for “Wake Up”, taken from their 2025 release Madafaka.
The clip first appeared in February, so this is not a new one. It only landed with us now, though, and it felt worth sharing once it did.
Part of what stands out is how clearly the video taps into the early-2000s nu metal look, done Madagascar style. There are skates, spray cans, and shots of the band playing right up against the crowd. It has some of the same rough, close-range feel as Alien Ant Farm’s video for “Smooth Criminal” and System Of A Down’s “Chop Suey!”, both from 2001.
Production was handled by Illicit Soul and Tsiory Andrianamanana. Direction came from Heryfield Mathilda Bezara and Soa Lullaby, while Sergio Mickael of SM IMAGE and Tsiory Andrianamanana handled the shooting. Grey also thanked La Teinturerie – Association d’artistes x Madagascar Underground for the spots used in the video.
It has been there since February. We missed it the first time round. Here it is now:
