Soundcheck first round closes as next stage begins

The first submission window for AFRICA.ROCKS Soundcheck has now ended. The first-round videos go live from 14 April, and worldwide voting opens on 26 April as the road toward the USD 250 prize moves forward.

The first-round submission period for AFRICA.ROCKS presents Soundcheck has now closed. After opening on 11 March, the project has reached the end of its first entry window, with bands from across Africa submitting newly filmed rehearsal-based performance videos built around one original song. The winner will receive a USD 250 cash prize.

The first-round videos will be published on AFRICA.ROCKS from 14 to 25 April. Worldwide public voting on the AFRICA.ROCKS website opens on 26 April at 00:00 GMT and runs until 9 May at 23:59 GMT. The five bands with the highest valid vote totals will move on to the final round.

A promotional video featuring footage from participating bands is also now online, giving readers and supporters an early look at what is coming. Watch below:
