AFRICA.ROCKS opens submissions for its second compilation

We are now accepting submissions for the second volume of our AFRICA.ROCKS compilation. It is open to rock, hard rock, metal, reggae, Tuareg rock / desert blues and related sounds from across Africa.

AFRICA.ROCKS has opened submissions for the second volume of its compilation, inviting bands and artists from across the continent to submit one song for consideration.

As with the first volume, the initial aim is to build a compilation with as much geographical variety as possible. For this stage, AFRICA.ROCKS is selecting one band from each country, with priority now given to countries that were not represented on the first sampler.

The call is not restricted to metal. Submissions are open to rock, hard rock, metal, reggae, Tuareg rock, desert blues and related sounds that fit within the broader musical scope covered by AFRICA.ROCKS.

Bands can submit one track through the dedicated application page, providing the band or artist name, country, song title, year of release and genre. A listening link is also required and can be provided through Spotify, Bandcamp, Dropbox or Google Drive.

Each submission must include the name of a direct contact for the band, an email address and a WhatsApp number.

Selected songs will appear on the physical AFRICA.ROCKS Vol. 2 CD, which will be distributed free of charge. Bands retain ownership and all rights to their music. Submission simply gives AFRICA.ROCKS permission to reproduce the selected recording on the CD and to use the song, or excerpts from it, in the promotion of the compilation.

No ownership of the recording or composition is transferred to AFRICA.ROCKS.

The first volume brought together bands from 15 African countries. For Volume 2, the project continues with the same focus on introducing listeners to scenes from different parts of the continent and creating space for countries that are still rarely represented in international rock and metal coverage.

There is no fee to submit a song. All entries will be reviewed by AFRICA.ROCKS, and bands will be contacted directly if their track is selected or if further information is required.

Submissions for AFRICA.ROCKS Vol. 2 are now open at africa.rocks/compilation/
