Togo's Arka'n Asrafokor will play La Case des Daltons in Lomé on Saturday, 30 May, with the band returning to a local stage while also sending support to bassist Francis Amevo after the death of his sister.

Arka’n Asrafokor will play La Case des Daltons in Lomé, Togo, on Saturday, 30 May.

The band shared the date under the banner “Metal in West Africa”, with the show taking place in the same city where Arka’n Asrafokor built their name. The group are known for Asrafocore, their own blend of metal with Togolese rhythms, ancestral chants, traditional percussion and local languages. AFRICA.ROCKS previously described them as Togo’s only metal band, with a history that has taken them from Lomé to shows across West Africa and later to European stages.

The band have also tied the preparation for the show to a difficult moment. In a message posted with the announcement, Arka’n Asrafokor sent support to bassist Francis Amevo after the loss of his sister: “The whole band extend maximum support and express our deepest sympathy to our bassist for the loss of his sister, our sister. Music sometimes has the power to convene soothing spirits. So shall it be. Rest in perfect peace, sister.”
