Man As Machine return with “The Right Words”

South African rock band Man As Machine have released "The Right Words", their first new music since before the pandemic and the first track from their current line-up.

Man As Machine are back with a new single. “The Right Words” arrives after a long period of change for the Gauteng band, including the departure of two founding members and the interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The remaining members chose to continue, using that uncertainty as the starting point for new material. Vocalist and guitarist Rob Visser says the lyrics took time to emerge: “Lyrically, it took longer to fill the space… two founder members had left the band and I found I had nothing to say. KJ said I should write about that,” he explains.

“The Right Words became a love song to the band, to the noise, to this group in all its forms, as it was, and as it is now.”

Formed in Gauteng in 2009, Man As Machine built their name through live shows and appearances at festivals including OppiKoppi, RamFest and Synergy.

The band have also shared stages with international acts Protest The Hero and Dead Letter Circus, as well as South African names including Fokofpolisiekar, Prime Circle, Wonderboom, Van Coke Kartel and Zebra & Giraffe.

Their catalogue includes the albums Nothing But A Thing, released in 2011, and Patterns, which followed in 2015.
