Tunisian brutal slamming death metal band Zerowet have released their debut EP, Slam Alikom.
The group began taking shape in late 2020 and early 2021, when four friends – Josef, Jasser, Bayrem and Aziz – found themselves playing together in an extremely brutal slam band. According to Zerowet, there was no formal starting point or carefully planned line-up.
“Zerowet doesn’t have a birthday or a specific moment that marks its creation. The members didn’t choose each other, the band chose us,” the group told AFRICA.ROCKS. “We were already friends, and what truly created Zerowet was our shared experiences, genuine connection, and mutual vision.”
The band emerged from what its members saw as a shortage of brutal metal in Tunisia at the time. Zerowet also grew out of their frustration at watching musicians from the local underground move towards mainstream club and bar performances simply to make money.
After stepping away between 2021 and 2026, the band have now returned with Slam Alikom, their first official release.
Speaking about both Zerowet and the EP, the band summed up their position in one line:
“Zerowet is toxicity against toxicity.”
Slam Alikom is out now.
