Ultra-Mal join Wacken battle in Stellenbosch

The Stellenbosch heat of Wacken Metal Battle Africa takes place at Aandklas Stellenbosch on 4 April 2026, with Ultra-Mal replacing Die Doodsvonnis on the competition bill alongside The Fallen Prophets and TerroRaze, while Moonday Gun appear as special guests.

There has been a lineup change for the Stellenbosch heat of Wacken Metal Battle Africa at Aandklas Stellenbosch on 4 April 2026. Die Doodsvonnis have pulled out of the event after one of the band’s members recently welcomed two new babies. In their place, Ultra-Mal have joined the bill and will now compete for a place in the finals.

Hailing from Worcester, Ultra-Mal bring a hip hop and punk mix that moves between Afrikaans, English and Xhosa. They join fellow competitors The Fallen Prophets and TerroRaze for a night that now carries a slightly different shape.

The event will also feature Moonday Gun as special guests, and Jacques Olivier of Metal4Africa has been announced as MC for the night.
