Maddox Theory sign with Darkside Records as Egyptian band enters a new chapter

Darkside Records has officially added Cairo's Maddox Theory to its roster, marking a new step for a band that has been growing inside Egypt's heavy scene since 2016 while quietly reshaping its lineup and preparing new material.

Darkside Records has officially welcomed Maddox Theory to the label, bringing one of Cairo’s rising heavy bands into a new phase at a time when the group is already moving through changes of its own.

Founded in December 2016 under the name Redemptoris by vocalist Mustafa Gharib and bassist Hazem Eed, the band first came through with a thrash metal base before starting to pull its sound in a heavier direction. That early period led to “Made of Steel” in 2018, with “Sukhoi! Sukhoi!” later landing in the Top 20 African Metal Songs of that year, an early sign that the band was reaching beyond its local circuit.

In the years since, Maddox Theory has kept pushing forward. Releases including “Eye of Stryx” and later singles showed a stronger modern edge, with more deathcore in the mix and a clearer sense of where the band wanted to go next.

The news also lands after a few important internal updates. The band recently confirmed its split with guitarist Adham Ashraf, describing the decision as the result of professional differences while thanking him for his work on their most recent singles. Soon after, Maddox Theory introduced new guitarist Loay Ehab, who was presented as a creative part of the band’s next release.

Another recent announcement tied the present back to the band’s earliest days. Under the banner “Zyos is back”, Maddox Theory confirmed that co-founding bassist Hazem Eed remains in place, with the band pointing to his role in shaping the bass work on their first singles and on “Made of Steel”.

They are also set to premiere “The Veil Unfolds When I Speak” on 27 March, with the official music video serving as the first preview of their upcoming EP. The track was mixed and mastered by Maged Gamal El Deen.
