MAYTAL 4 returns to Port Louis, Mauritius with Archsoul, RAFiA and Cryptic Carnage

MAYTAL returns on Saturday, May 9 in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, for its fourth edition at Cafe du Vieux Conseil. Running from 20:00 to 01:00, the event brings together new and established names from Mauritius and Madagascar, with Archsoul, RAFiA and Cryptic Carnage already announced and more still to come.

MAYTAL is back for a fourth edition, with the first announcements bringing together bands from Mauritius and Madagascar. Set for May 9 at Cafe du Vieux Conseil in Port Louis, the event is shaping up as another meeting point for heavy music in the southwest Indian Ocean, with three very different bands already confirmed and more still expected.

Archsoul is one of the Mauritian bands already confirmed. Formed in 2025, it brings together musicians from different rock and metal bands on the island. The band started around a Metallica tribute planned for 2026, before taking shape as a separate act.

RAFiA makes the trip from Madagascar. Formed in 2026, the band grew out of Hitsy Say and works across rock, hard rock, alternative, post-grunge and blues.

Cryptic Carnage brings the longest history of the three. Formed in Mauritius in 2012, the band is known for its death metal and for years of steady activity on the local live circuit.

MAYTAL 4 takes place on May 9 at Cafe du Vieux Conseil in Port Louis, with more names still to be announced.
