P+A+G+E+S perform three-song set for Spinal Sessions

Cape Town doom and sludge trio P+A+G+E+S have released a 30-minute live performance recorded for Spinal Sessions at Spinäl Täp Bar, featuring "Shine On", "The Passage" and "Devastation Junkie".

P+A+G+E+S have appeared in the latest edition of Spinal Sessions, a series of live music performances filmed and recorded at Spinäl Täp Bar in Cape Town, South Africa.

The 30-minute performance was premiered at the Observatory venue on 26 June 2026 as part of an event combining the launch of Spinal Session 13 with the release of the band’s own beer, P+A+G+E+S Cursed Porter. The porter was produced by Carl Nienaber of The 400 Brewing Company and is available exclusively on tap at Spinäl Täp Bar, which is owned by Nienaber and Marla Burger.

During the session, P+A+G+E+S perform “Shine On”, “The Passage” and “Devastation Junkie”, moving through the slow, heavy and textural sound that has defined the band. Originally active as Morning Pages between 2014 and 2019, the current line-up consists of Caitlin Mkhasibe on drums, Frank Lunar on bass and helo samo on guitar, vocals, sampling and textural noise.

The band recorded its debut full-length album, No More Can Be Done, with Simon Ratcliffe at Sound and Motion Studios in Cape Town between 3 and 7 February 2025. The album addresses existential dread, geopolitical despair, environmental decay and resistance within what the band describes as an increasingly fascist and dying world. Its themes also include opposition to oppression and support for BIPOC communities, women, LGBTQI+ people, human rights and animal rights.
