Ireland’s Ten Ton Slug have released a guitar and bass playthrough for “Mallacht an tSloda”, filmed on Botswana’s salt plains during the Irish band’s November 2025 trip to the country.

AFRICA.ROCKS covered that Botswana run in February, when Ten Ton Slug reflected on two shows that took them far from Galway: a Halloween warm-up in Ghanzi and Vulture Thrust Metal Fest in Maun. Looking back on it then, the band admitted they had been “definitely guilty of overlooking a vibrant metal scene on an entire continent”, which gives this new playthrough a bit more weight than a standard performance upload.

“Mallacht an tSloda” comes from Colossal Oppressor, Ten Ton Slug’s debut full-length, released on 1 May 2024. Back when the Botswana dates were first announced, outside coverage also noted that the song was expected to mark the first performance of a metal track in the Irish language in the country. Now the band have brought Botswana back into the picture again, this time by putting the song against footage shot there while they were actually on the ground.
