Pariah Studios has released the sixth entry in its Live Sessions series, this time with The Burnouts stepping into the room. The Johannesburg band arrive there with good momentum behind them, and the timing lines up neatly with their next big stop: the Baileys Bedfordview heat of Wacken Metal Battle Africa.
Pariah Studios, run by Evert Snyman and Kyle Leist, has kept the Live Sessions line grounded in real performance. The setup stays simple: recorded live, without quantisation, without vocal pitch correction, and without trying to rebuild the performance afterwards. What you hear is what happened in the room.
In AFRICA.ROCKS’ recent feature on the Bedfordview heat, the band said they formed in the middle of 2024 as a two-piece garage punk band, later added another member, and kept writing while refusing to be boxed into one genre. They also made it clear that their live side says a lot about who they are, describing their sound in the room as tied to “very high energy” and an “intense anti-fascist message”.
