Ectogenesis have been picked as the winners of Mozambique’s Wacken Metal Battle Africa heat and will move on to the Africa finals in Johannesburg, where the regional qualifiers meet for the next stage of the circuit.
Wacken Metal Battle is built around local heats feeding into a national final, then into the wider international programme connected to Wacken. For bands in Mozambique, it is a rare format that puts the local scene in the same conversation as the rest of the continent, with one slot on the line.
After the result, Ectogenesis’ Edson Magnus Litsur posted a message on the band’s official Instagram starting with: “Mozambique, we did it. I’m still processing everything… but this is real.” He thanked the people who backed him on stage, the Wacken Metal Battle Africa team, and the local crews involved in the night, and he gave respect to the other bands on the lineup.
He also singled out Dark Necropoly directly: “Worthy opponents. Total respect.” And he made a point of crediting the crowd for pushing the set over the line: “You were with us from the first minute. The energy, the shouts, the hugs… we wouldn’t have done it without you.”
Ectogenesis now head to Johannesburg for the Africa finals on 6 June 2026 at Sognage, where the regional winners meet for the next stage of the competition.
