Sina Kienou has released “Farafin Dénou”, the second single from Révolution Touma, accompanied by a video filmed at Site Safari in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
The title means “children of the African land”, and the song addresses divisions between African peoples, with Kienou calling for solidarity and a return to values he associates with African cultures: respect, brotherhood, unity, dignity and work.
“Farafin Dénou” follows “Immortel”, released in May, as Kienou continues introducing Révolution Touma through his Mandé Rock project. Mandé Rock was founded in 2017 and brings together Mandingue musical traditions with rock, drawing on Kienou’s background as a guitarist and member of a griot family from Burkina Faso.
Explaining the new song, Kienou describes xenophobia as something that weakens the continent at a time when cooperation is essential.
“‘Farafin Dénou’ means ‘children of the African land’. This song sends a message to the African people: join hands, stay united and don’t forget the values passed down by our ancestors. Stop xenophobia! Our cultures embody strong principles: nobility, respect, brotherhood, unity and a strong work ethic. Africa is a land rich in its people, its cultures, its natural resources and its history. It possesses within itself the strength to build its own future. But when peoples become divided, they become more vulnerable.”
He describes “Farafin Dénou” as “a call to conscience, solidarity and collective responsibility among the children of Africa”, adding that remembering those inherited values is already part of shaping what comes next.
Kienou handles vocals and lead guitar on the recording, joined by Roi Sharuf on rhythm guitar, Amos Jonathan Paré on bass, Roland Drum on drums and Siaka Dao on percussion. The track was recorded by Isaac Ouedraogo at Hope Music in Ouagadougou and mixed and mastered by Johann Spitz at Wood Studio in Liège, Belgium.
The video was filmed in Bobo-Dioulasso, with production through SK99 PROD. Bogolan clothing was supplied by Sanou Idrissa of Cotton-nnin.Arts, with tailoring by Mady Ouedraogo and make-up and styling by Roi Sharuf.
“Farafin Dénou” is available now through Bandcamp, with the official video on YouTube. Révolution Touma will follow as the next full-length chapter of Kienou’s Mandé Rock project.
