Alcantagram prepare new album following “Spiral of Destruction”

Moroccan death metal band Alcantagram are working on a new independent album planned for release towards the end of 2026. The current line-up spoke exclusively to AFRICA.ROCKS about the band's evolution and the ideas behind first single "Spiral of Destruction".

Formed in Meknes in 2006, Alcantagram have been part of the Moroccan death metal underground for two decades. The band remain active and independent, with “Spiral of Destruction” currently serving as the first single from their forthcoming album. The track was released digitally in April 2025.

The current line-up consists of Abdess on guitars, Ismail on drums, Mohssine on vocals and Hatim on bass. According to the band, the new material is intended to move Alcantagram forward while retaining the death metal identity established over previous years.

Speaking exclusively to AFRICA.ROCKS, Alcantagram explained:

“This evolution is important to us because we don’t want to simply repeat what we have done before. We want the band to grow while remaining faithful to its identity. Each member brings his own energy and musical personality, and this line-up has become an important part of the new direction we are taking. ‘Spiral of Destruction’ is the first glimpse of that new chapter. The track explores the idea of breaking away from imposed control, fighting internal struggles and refusing to surrender. Musically, it reflects the evolution we have been working on, combining the aggression of our roots with a more modern approach to death metal.

“We are currently fully focused on our upcoming album, which we are producing independently. ‘Spiral of Destruction’ is the first single from this album, and the full record is planned for release at the end of this year. This album is a very important step for us. It represents years of experience, evolution and everything we have learned since the beginning of Alcantagram. We are putting everything we have into it, and we see ‘Spiral of Destruction’ as only the beginning of what is coming next. After all these years, we are still here, still creating, still fighting and still refusing to bow. The next chapter of Alcantagram starts now.”

No title or exact release date has yet been announced for the album. “Spiral of Destruction” is available now on streaming platforms.
