AFRICA.ROCKS is premiering “Time Made Mass”, a new track from LIGHTHOUSE, the fourth full-length album by Caged Bastard.
Founded by Muhammad Oun, Caged Bastard exists between black metal, drone, ambient, psychedelic rock, industrial music, power electronics and experimental sound design.
Recorded in November 2025, LIGHTHOUSE runs across five tracks and thirty-five minutes. The album follows the idea of a Fixed Point, something that remains still while everything around it moves through pressure, excess and collapse. The first four tracks were written to feel ugly, dissonant, dense and claustrophobic, with weight building through repetition, compression and gradual tension. The closing instrumental, “The Wayfarer”, opens the album out into stillness after that pressure has done its work.
According to Oun, LIGHTHOUSE does not look for escape or easy healing. It deals with endurance, containment and the way inner structure can be formed through force. “Time Made Mass” sits inside that idea as one of the album’s key points.
Speaking exclusively to AFRICA.ROCKS, Muhammad Oun explains: «”Time Made Mass” comes from realising that some experiences never truly leave us, and that trying to erase them is often a losing battle. Over time, I became more interested in what those experiences leave behind and what they can become. The track is a form of transmutation. Not in a mystical way, but in the sense of taking something painful, destructive or hostile and refusing to pass it on. Instead of allowing negativity to spread through actions, it can be transformed into something constructive. For me, that transformation is music that might one day come in the way of someone who needs it and change their perception of whatever negative experience they are going through. Within the album, “Time Made Mass” is the moment where pressure stops being viewed as an obstacle and starts being understood as a formative force. The title itself reflects that idea. Given enough time, experiences accumulate weight. They become part of the structure we carry through life. LIGHTHOUSE is built around the search for something stable in the middle of chaos. “Time Made Mass” is the point where that stability begins to materialise, not because the storm disappeared, but because the storm itself contributed to the foundation.»
