Cairo death metal institution Scarab have announced a new deal with Brutal Records in the US, setting the stage for a fresh run of releases in 2026. Founded in 1986 in New Orleans, Brutal Records have framed the signing as a new chapter for the band and their long-running ritual-heavy approach to death metal.
The band comments: “We are very happy to join forces with Brutal Records. This marks a new era for Scarab, and we are looking forward to what we are going to be putting out to the world. Let the magick begin!”
For Scarab, the timing lines up with what they have already been signalling to fans. The band have been teasing Transmutation of Fate, an EP planned for 2026, described as the next step in their “sonic alchemy”, and it follows a period of activity that has included live announcements and a public line-up update heading into 2025.
The other headline is a full-length revisiting of their origins. Blinding the Masses [Reincarnated] is billed for 2026 as a heavier rework of their debut era, which first put Scarab on international radars out of Cairo after the band formed in 2006.
After Blinding the Masses (2010) and Serpents of the Nile (2015), Scarab widened the scope on Martyrs of the Storm (2020), which featured guest appearances from Karl Sanders (Nile) and Joe Haley (Psycroptic).
