South Africa’s Corpse Fortress have released their new single “Lupine Metamorphosis”, now available across streaming platforms. Combining elements of brutal, slamming and old-school death metal, the track marks the final recording from the band’s previous line-up, featuring Jo Marie on vocals and A3 on bass.
Speaking exclusively to AFRICA.ROCKS, the band explained that the single represents the end of that period in their history.
“This track essentially marks the close of a chapter for Corpse Fortress. We recently went through a major line-up change, and this is the last single we produced with Jo Marie on vocals. It definitely leans a lot more into slam.”
“Lupine Metamorphosis” was mixed and mastered by Matt Mader, with artwork by Ikhsan Artwork. Corpse Fortress also thanked Jo Marie and Adri for their work with the band over the past year.
The change will become visible on stage almost immediately. Corpse Fortress will debut their new line-up at UNDERSOUND on Friday, 11 September at Springbok Arms in Observatory, Cape Town. The band are scheduled to perform at 21:00, with presale tickets available through Quicket. The event is presented by Breakneck Bookings, Verse to Venue and CPT Metal Realm.
Asked what comes next, Corpse Fortress confirmed that the change in personnel will not alter their plans to continue releasing heavy music.
“We have a sick new line-up. We’re still going to release heavy music with the same level of passion and quality. We’re also debuting the new line-up this Friday.”
