Walk These Skies have released “Godforsaken”, the first song from a new batch of material written after their 2025 debut EP, I’d Rather Die Than Become What You’ve Made.
The single arrives on 22 July alongside the band’s first official music video. It also introduces drummer Lorenzo Germani on record and points towards the darker, more aggressive direction Walk These Skies are taking on their second EP.
“Godforsaken” deals with abandonment, anger and the isolation left behind when trust collapses. Musically, the band move further into deathcore while keeping the contrast between heavy verses and melodic choruses that has shaped their earlier work.
The track was produced, mixed and mastered by Johan Heyns and the band at The Laundry Room studio.
Rhythm guitarist Matt Nijland explained how the song came together: “‘Godforsaken’ started out as a really strong instrumental written by Marcelle back in mid-2025, and the band knew for a fact it would be the next song we’d record and drop following the release of the first EP. The lyrics, theme and name of the song all came together rather quickly, with Trystan and I naturally collaborating on them together in the moments of listening to the song as a band – starting with the pre-chorus and chorus and working our way back through the verses. It also marks our first song with Lorenzo’s prowess on drums, marking an incredibly exciting moment as we usher in this heavier era of Walk These Skies. The newest songs, including ‘Godforsaken’, are already proving to be crowd favourites at our shows!”
