Cein releases “Lightyears of Grace”

Cape Town indie artist Cein has released "Lightyears of Grace", a song about grief, survival and the strength required to begin again.

Cein has returned with a new single, “Lightyears of Grace”, accompanied by a lyric video.

The Cape Town artist wrote the song around resilience and transformation, drawing partly from experiences connected to gender-based violence and the process of rebuilding a life after trauma.

“The meaning of ‘Lightyears of Grace’ can be interpreted in many ways, depending on what the listener connects with,” Cein explains. “For me, it is ultimately about resilience, the strength it takes to endure, transform and keep moving forward through life’s most difficult experiences.”

The song also addresses grief and healing, leaving its meaning open enough for listeners to connect it with their own experiences.

Cein began playing guitar at the age of 13 after growing up with the music of Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Jimi Hendrix. Her own work draws from folk songwriting and modern indie production, with the lyrics kept at the centre.

“Lightyears of Grace” is available now, with the official lyric video also released online.
