Ironwill began in 2018 through Salvo “Ironwill” Dell’Arte, who sees rock music and other forms of art as a way to reach people directly, especially young people and teenagers. For him, art is part of life and a way to give meaning to the path each person takes.
The project connects music with comics, photography, video, illustration and visual art, with songs that deal with personal and psychological themes. On Reforged Within, that vision is tied to a new label, a new album cycle and a place on the first AFRICA.ROCKS sampler CD, which is being distributed in South Africa.
“We believe metal is a universal language, and the chance to connect with listeners in South Africa is both an honour and an exciting opportunity.”
Reforged Within is a strong title because it already suggests change, pressure and rebuilding. What did that phrase mean to you while this album was taking shape?
Reforged Within is the symbol of Ironwill’s rebirth. Our fourth release, published by Art Gates Records, stands as a restart after the fire of trials, change and inner battles. To be “reforged within” means rebuilding yourself from the inside, transforming pain into strength, failure into awareness, and the past into new power. This album is a musical evolution for us, and also a statement of identity: stronger, truer and more alive than ever.
Art Gates Records are now part of this chapter of the band. What did they understand about Ironwill that made this the right moment to work together?
Art Gates Records are a great reality, and from our first contact I established a personal, direct and transparent relationship with them, built on respect for the meaning of our music. They also gave me complete freedom in composition and content.
“Infinity” was the first real door into the new album. What made that the right track to put forward first?
“Infinity” was the natural choice for the first single because it captures the core of the album’s spirit: rebirth. The song tells the story of a love that turns toxic, a bond that may be over in reality but still survives inside you, trapping you in a prison of memories, pain and obsessive thoughts. It is about facing that inner grief, going through the darkness, and finding the strength to transform suffering into growth. In the end, “Infinity” is about freeing the soul from its cage and becoming something stronger, wiser and more alive.
Your official site presents Ironwill as something bigger than a band, with music tied to comics, visual art and a broader narrative world. How much does that wider vision shape the way a song comes together?
The band is part of a wide kaleidoscope in which all artistic forms are involved: music, photography, video, comics, illustration and works of art. Ironwill’s aim is to bring together the best artists who are able to express the importance of the themes dealt with in each phase of the project through their emotions. Ironwill deals with personal and psychological issues, offering different points of view into the depths of one’s soul and trying to shine a warm light towards the audience.
You are part of the first AFRICA.ROCKS sampler CD, which will be distributed in South Africa. What made that worth joining, and what do you hope someone there picks up first when they hear Ironwill?
Being part of the first AFRICA.ROCKS sampler CD felt meaningful to us because music should cross borders, cultures and distances. For Ironwill, joining this project means bringing our sound and our message to a new audience, and that is always something worth embracing. We believe metal is a universal language, and the chance to connect with listeners in South Africa is both an honour and an exciting opportunity. The first thing we hope people there will feel when they hear Ironwill is truth. Beyond heaviness and power, we want them to hear emotional truth: the sense that our music comes from real inner battles, transformation, pain and rebirth. If they can feel the intensity, the soul and the human depth behind the sound, then they will truly understand who we are.
