Liminal Fest 2026 lands in Cape Town on 4 April 2026 at District (61 Harrington Street), bringing Constellatia, VastVale, Strage and P+A+G+E+S onto the same bill for a full-spectrum heavy night that moves from doom weight to post-metal atmosphere.
Constellatia sit closest to the black/post-metal seam. Their last full-length, Magisterial Romance (Season of Mist), came out in late 2022 and still feels built for big rooms and dim lights. There’s a lot of air in their sound, even when the guitars are doing the ugly work. They’ve also hinted that a third LP is due in 2026, so this one has the feel of a checkpoint show: new material might sneak in, or you get a band tightening the screws ahead of whatever comes next.
VastVale are the newest name on the lineup, with a debut EP (So Dimly I Tread, 2025) that’s clear about its priorities: melody first, then the slow drag. It’s doom that actually wants you to remember the hooks, even when everything’s tuned down and moving at walking pace.
Strage add the instrumental weight. Their recorded output is spaced out – The Fire in Hell (2012) and the Raze 7” (2017) are the main reference points – but they’ve always felt like a band built for rooms where the PA can carry low end properly. If you like the part of a heavy show where you stop talking and just stand there, this is probably your set.
Then there’s P+A+G+E+S, who’ve been steadily carving out a lane between doom, drone and noise. Their debut album, No More Can Be Done, dropped in October 2025, and it’s the kind of record that doesn’t pretend the world is fine. The songs take their time. They repeat, they grind, they let the tension sit. In a four-band night like this, that kind of restraint can be the thing that makes everything else hit harder.
Tickets were tiered as Limited (R90), Early Bird (R120) and General (R150). Doors are 20:00 and it runs through to 02:00. It’s at District Night Club & Venue (61 Harrington Street, District Six) and it’s strictly no under-18s.
